My love of henna has morphed into my art making practice. This meditation involves mandala making, creating a hypnotic pattern to ease the mind. Working on wood, I apply henna to the surface and then after it dries, I coat it with high gloss. Sometimes I do not coat it at all, leaving the henna to dry and eventually fall off. All that would remain would be the henna stain underneath. I am intrigued by the idea of a piece being organic and allowing it to continue to process through the slow release of this natural medium. Anselm Kiefer inspires me to feel free to use any medium, no matter it's fragility, to obtain the desired result.
